In October of 1991, my son gave me a phone call. It is always nice to pick up the phone and hear one of your offspring on the other end give a cherry "Hi Mom". Usually this statement is followed by "How are you?", but this time the usual did not happen. Instead, he got right down to business about how my grandson needed some family history for his class project. I put on my thinking cap, and over the phone gave some of the important details, like what countries our ancestors had emigrated from and other fun facts. We talked for awhile and then said good-by. He was paying for the phone call, and on a highway patrolman's wages, every penny counts. I think all calls to mothers should be toll free.

After we hung up, I got out the typewriter and wrote down a few of the stories that were running around in my head. This led to telling stories of my kids and then stories of when I was a youngster with siblings to contend with. The more I wrote, the more there was to write about. Every week I’ll post a few of the stories for your enjoyment. I'll just add them at the bottom of the previous ones, so scroll down to where you left off. My hope is that you will see your own childhood as you read about mine.
